James Burn
Senior Foreman
James turned his interests for the outdoors and nature into a job and joined NVL as a Senior Landscaper. James is now a Senior Foreman using his skills and experience.
When did you start at NVL?
In April 2022 I hit my 5-year anniversary at NVL.
Why did you choose a career in landscaping?
I have always enjoyed the outdoors and working with plants. Choosing a career in the landscaping industry just seemed to be the perfect fit for me.
What part of landscaping do you enjoy the most?
As a Senior Foreman I am usually at a job from the beginning to the end. I really enjoy seeing the jobs being developed day by day. In the end it is the satisfaction of seeing a big job completed which makes this job very enjoyable.
What do people not realise about landscaping?
I think people don’t realise the amount of detail that goes into single landscaping tasks. For example, it is often very underrated how much work it is to make a barked area look awesome. It is more than just planting and mulching, it is also about being creative and dealing with unexpected challenges that come up along the way.
Favourite project you worked on and why?
My favourite project must be the Playground at Olive Estate Lifestyle Village. Even though the project has been completed a few years ago I still enjoy driving past it, seeing kids having a blast. It feels great knowing I have been part of the completion of this job.
Best thing about NVL?
The best thing is the comradely relationship with my fellow workmates. Everyone goes along very well not just during workhours. Even after work we enjoy sitting together and having a good chat.
